a Re-Co Bklyn pedestal & a pair of benches

This pecan pedestal’s surface is very rich in colors and texture. This piece has sold but we are always on the look out for pieces as unique as this.

The boards making up these benches were cut from one solid block of hard pine …. the surface of which had been severely burned in a fire. After cleaning up the excess charcoal, a wonderful black alligator skin like texture was left behind. The proportions of these benches are intended so that they can be turned on end and used as a lap top table or side table. This bench set along with a few other pieces were weather proofed with varnish and sold to a client for his roof top patio.

GreenJeans highlights both Boo-Coup and Re-Co Bklyn

GreenJeans selected highlights of BRKLYN Designs 2009 included my bamboo line Boo-Coup. “Boo-Coup is using bamboo plywood and creating texture in the outer layer of the wood, then finishing it in bold crayola colors. Really fun and different.” as well as Re-Co Brooklyn!

Criss cross, flow, narrow flow, croc are some of these outer layers textures.

Turbulence and rope streak shown in cool colors (to the left) are also fun to touch.

Boo-Coup selected for the ’09 BKLYN DESIGNS Show

Boo-Coup & Re-Co are selected for the ’09 BKLYN DESIGNS Show !

Running May 8-10 at St Anne’s Warehouse in Dumbo and kicking off New York Design Week, this show is expected to pull roughly 6500 visitors over it’s weekend run. BKLYN DESIGNS is sponsored by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, as well as the likes of dwell magazine, Pratt Institute, New York Magazine and Benjamin Moore. A jury was appointed to select 45 of brooklyn’s top designers; the show will feature the hottest, freshest and most innovative contemporary furniture, lighting, carpet, flooring and wall coverings designed by both new and veteran exhibitors. Being a part of such an amazing event is like a godsend for both BOO-COUP and RE-CO BKLYN, as we are such a young companies, and we are absolutely over the moon about this opportunity.

Reclaimed Collaborative Brooklyn (RE-CO BKLYN)

…is a joint effort between Roger Benton of Benton Custom (bentoncustom.com/) and yours truly –David Siegel of Boo- Coup (boo-coup.com/). Our project is focused on harnessing the natural beauty and potential of discarded chunks of lumber salvaged from old buildings and construction sites along the east coast.
