Haute Nature loves Boo-Coup!
•May 12, 2009 • Leave a CommentHaute Nature is a sophisticated green blog with an eye on sustainable, stylish design, supporting ecologically based creative ideas, art & green products for your children, home and lifestyle.
Here is what Haute Nature says about Boo-Coup:
“Boo-Coup is an adorable bamboo line of children’s furniture by David Siegel in N.Y. Siegel focuses on creating the pieces from only sustainable and renewable materials. David’s awareness of hardwood harvesting and the impact that it has on the local and global environment, was reason to find materials with lower impact. The textures surfaces and bright colors lend a playful & joyful edge to the line.”
Thank you Haute Nature! and to green solutions Ecobcil for picking up on that feed along with Naturalpath on the Best in Green and Healthy Living.
GreenJeans highlights both Boo-Coup and Re-Co Bklyn
•May 11, 2009 • Leave a CommentGreenJeans selected highlights of BRKLYN Designs 2009 included my bamboo line Boo-Coup. “Boo-Coup is using bamboo plywood and creating texture in the outer layer of the wood, then finishing it in bold crayola colors. Really fun and different.” as well as Re-Co Brooklyn!

Criss cross, flow, narrow flow, croc are some of these outer layers textures.

Turbulence and rope streak shown in cool colors (to the left) are also fun to touch.

Boo-Coup selected for the ‘09 BKLYN DESIGNS Show
•May 1, 2009 • Leave a CommentBoo-Coup & Re-Co are selected for the ‘09 BKLYN DESIGNS Show !
Running May 8-10 at St Anne’s Warehouse in Dumbo and kicking off New York Design Week, this show is expected to pull roughly 6500 visitors over it’s weekend run. BKLYN DESIGNS is sponsored by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, as well as the likes of dwell magazine, Pratt Institute, New York Magazine and Benjamin Moore. A jury was appointed to select 45 of brooklyn’s top designers; the show will feature the hottest, freshest and most innovative contemporary furniture, lighting, carpet, flooring and wall coverings designed by both new and veteran exhibitors. Being a part of such an amazing event is like a godsend for both BOO-COUP and RE-CO BKLYN, as we are such a young companies, and we are absolutely over the moon about this opportunity.

Here’s a detail of the legs.

This is a large kids table for Tom Flynn Inc.
The panels are held in place by the silver knobs, and flip over to expose a chalk board surface.
The panels also rotate in placement, so that the rectangular units underneath (which are on wheels) can be reconfigured in a closed position or separated.
The double door unit, built for Tom Flynn inc. is based on my prototype of bamboo ply kids furniture next to it.
Kids bed built in. The open area has padded panels inserted there.
Many of Wiliamsburgs old warehouse buildings have been recently knocked down
We grabbed some old beams…..
…..and turned them into benches for my girlfriends balcony.
The Crest Hardware Art Show just closed, so sad. I showed this goofy piece, but I was truly honored to participate, as the show has a long history in Williamsburg.
This was done working for Andrew Maas. It is in a condo in DUMBO.
More traditional work in a New Jersey mansion. With Andrew Maas.
